I just put this into Google translate, and it says “What kind of girls do you like?” Uhhh I’m a straight girl though?

Fantasy figures that exist for kids to believe in when they’re younger like Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, Easter bunny, etc., don’t really exist in Korea. Characters like Santa Claus are still known, but it exists as a symbol rather than something to believe as reality. Belief in superstitions is much more common than belief in the existence of fictional characters.
You’re right, and that’s where reality and taboo butt heads a little. I’d say around 50% of Korea’s population fall under the last names Kim, Lee, Choi, Park, and Jeong, which could put a limit on your “acceptable” dating/marriage possibilities if you have one of those last names. Laws that prohibited marriage among people with the same last name were probably originally put in place to prevent birth defects from incest, but even if they’re gone now and even if same last names don’t necessarily indicate incest, mindsets from very old cultural taboos and traditions from Confucianism are hard to eradicate completely.
Just a note: Korean laws that banned marriage among people with the same last name and same ancestral clan were lifted quite recently in 1998
Yes, women in Korea traditionally all keep their maiden names after they marry, and the kids that they have take the surname of the father. There are very few exceptions to that, and usually the married woman only adopts the surname of her husband if they move to an English speaking country.
Dating or marrying someone with the same last name as you is definitely taboo and generally frowned upon. It becomes an even bigger issue if you have the same last name and come from the same clan lineage
It’s actually not though lol. Croque monsieur is a French grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Croque madame is a croque monsieur topped with a fried or poached egg.
They definitely won’t ever sell any GIYONGCHY accessories. They’d run into some serious copyright infringement issues with Givenchy
Cigarettes, no. Hookah, yes.
All of GD’s “GIYONGCHY” accessories are custom made, so you’re not going to be able to find the same accessories as he has, but there are some fanmade “GIYONGCHY” goods that you can usually find around tumblr and eBay

I haven’t been there in a few months, so I’m not sure D: I would assume that they start selling them in June, but you can always call and ask to make sure!
I think it’s become a word that has been deemed okay for just Asians to use amongst themselves, similar to the n-word, and it’s become a part of my vocabulary. I probably should stop using it less. I do realize it has offensive origins, so if I offended you, I’m sorry
It’s on March 7, so it’s already past, but I’d absolutely love a letter and a gift from someone on tumblr! I actually have received things in the mail from people I’ve befriended through tumblr and twitter, and each time I just get really really happy ^_^
Well, I don’t think I’m hideous, but I’m still uncomfortable with the idea of posting a photo that’s actually an accurate representation of what I look like in real life, so I think it’s true that a lot of you do think I’m better looking than I actually am, since I do post photos with more flattering angles and lighting
